Dr. Tracy L. Sanchez
Welcome to the band program at Neely Traditional Academy. Beginning in fourth grade, Neely students have the opportunity to learn to play a band instrument in beginning band. Students learn fundamental techniques and focus on posture, hand position, tone production, articulation, pitch, and rhythm. Intermediate band is for students who already have at least one year of experience on their instrument or who who can successfully pass an audition. Advanced band is an audition only ensemble. Bands perform in winter and spring concerts. Intermediate and advanced bands also perform at Neely's Evening of the Arts.
My name is Dr. Sánchez and I am excited to be teaching band at Neely. I have taught band since 1993 and joined Neely in 2012. Although I have been trained in all the band instruments, my main instrument is the trombone. I am fortunate to be a graduate of the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. I have a Master of Music degree and Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Arizona State University. Most importantly, I love being a teacher and working with young band students. It is my desire for every student to have a great experience in band. Please feel free to contact me at the email address above if you have any questions about the band program.
