Mr. Trent Bender
Welcome to the music webpage for General Music/Chorus at Neely Traditional Academy! Information posted on this website will eventually allow you take a look inside the weekly music activities, see performance dates for music concerts/programs, and help you contact Mr. Bender. The site is under construction, but will be updated soon!
I live in Mesa, Arizona with my wife Megan, daughter Phoebe, and my adorable dogs Lilo and Ellie. I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and an Educational Licensure in K-12 Music Education. In 2013, I completed my master's degree in educational administration at Grand Canyon University. I grew up in a family of six in Clinton, Iowa and I am a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan!
I have been teaching in public schools for ten years. I began my teaching career serving as a high school band director, guitar teacher, and baseball coach for five years. The last five years I have been the elementary school music teacher/chorus instructor at Neely Traditional Academy. My goal as a music educator is to promote and encourage learning in the performing arts, specifically helping students grow in their musical skills. I love to watch the improvement that each student makes towards that next concert or performance.
In my spare time I love to play my main instruments; French horn and trumpet. I love giving group/private lessons to middle school/high school brass students during the week. I enjoy running an after-school chorus at my elementary school that meets on Tuesdays. When I am not doing musical activities, I love working out. I love spending time with my wife, daughter, and walking with my dogs. I enjoy sports, getting outside when the weather is nice, constantly trying to find more time for golf in my schedule!
