About Me

I moved from New Jersey to Arizona 25 years ago in 1991, with my husband and dogs.  My first career was in Market Research, but in Arizona I took the opportunity to change careers and went to ASU. I received my Bachelors in Education in Early Childhood in 1995, and started teaching for the Gilbert School District in 1996 at Harris Elementary.  I was a first grade teacher for seven years.  During this time, I earned my Masters of Education at NAU with a reading endorsement.  Shortly after I received my degree and endorsement I became a Title 1 Reading Teacher at Harris.  Two years later in 2005, I joined the Neely Traditional Academy as Reading Specialist, where I have been helping readers and classroom teachers until today.  I have several specialized certifications and endorsements, including Wilson Reading System, Just Words, Lindamood-Bell LIPS and Visualize and Verbalize, DIBELs mentor and trainer, Spalding Language Arts 1 and 2, and more.

When I’m not teaching a child to read, I’m reading my own books by the pool or on a beach with my husband of 35 years.
